Factory Scholz Signed Game Scene Engraved Heym Model
88 Jumbo Ejector Double Rifle in .577 Nitro Express with
Case - Serial no. 83010, 577 N.E. cal., 23 7/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/
coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 2004. Blued steel barrels
with beaded blade front sight on a raised section of solid rib, two
leaf (one folding, one standing) rear sight marked “35” and “50” on the raised rear quarter rib, some light engraving at the around the breech, and
       chambers with ejectors. The coin grey bolstered, sideplated action displays light floral
engraving, high polish on the bolsters, and three oval game scenes. The scenes are rendered in exceptional detail, the left shows a lion in profile, the underside shows a cape buffalo, and the right has a rhinoceros. The toplever is an exquisitely carved elephant’s head in three dimensions complete with tusks and trunk running down the lever. The engraver has signed his name “A. Scholz” on the triggerplate. The rifle features double triggers and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release and pistol grip stock with engraved coin grey grip cap with “LAB” monogram, raised cheekpiece, and brown rubber recoil pad. Includes a leather bound takedown case containing cleaning tools. The length of pull is 14 3/4 inches. The weight is 13 lbs 1 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue and coin finishes, minor handling evidence, very minor wear at the muzzles, and a few small blemishes along the barrels. The wood is very fine with scattered light scratches, a few small pressure marks, and sharp checkering. The case is excellent. Mechanically excellent.
