the matted vent rib, upper barrel marked “Famars - ITALY” on the left side, light border engraving at the breech, standard Italian proof marks under the forend, interchangeable choke system (#5/#6 installed), and chambers marked 70 mm (2 3/4 inches) with automatic ejectors. The coin grey finished
sideplated boxlock action displays fabulous floral scroll engraving surrounding five bird scenes. The left sideplate shows four grouse in flight, ne of which is being struck by shot, the left of the action shows a single grouse in flight, the underside has a large woodcock in flight, the right sideplate has
our mallards in flight over a marsh, and the right of the action shows a solitary mallard. The release lever, tangs, and triggerguard shoe feature the same scroll
with a single mallard on the triggerguard. The triggerplate is signed “C. Tomasoni” for Master Engraver Claudio Tomasoni. The gun features a single trigger with tang
mounted manual safety switch. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings including the release latch and pistol grip stock with Pachmayr
Declarator recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proved at 18.8/18.7 mm (.740/.736 inches) and measured at .740/.739 inches; minimum wall thickness .033/.035 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs 2 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, minor tiny spots on the left sideplate, and minor handling evidence. The wood is also excellent with a few minor marks and sharp checkering.
Steel with dual steel bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard Beretta markings and Italian proofs, chambers measured 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors, and floral engraving at
the breech section. The bright sidelock action displays beautiful, full coverage floral scrollwork with interspersed bouquets. The engraving extends to the triggerguard and tangs with a gold inlaid coronet on the release lever which has been skeletonized
with a floral scroll. The work is sign “S. TONONCELLI” on the triggerplate for Beretta Master Engraver Stefano Tononcelli. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley style release and pistol grip stock with scalloped grip cap and Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad.
Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved at 18.3 mm (.720 inches) and measured .725/.724 inches; choke constriction .025/.029 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.025 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 7 lbs 4 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent as refurbished, retaining 99% blue finish, polished bright action and triggergaurd slight discoloration at the left fence, and minor handling evidence. The stock has several repaired cracks at the stock head and slight chipping at the edges, otherwise the wood is good with a few minor marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
