Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 21 Grand American Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case and Factory Letter - Serial no. 32767, 12 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold finish, highly figured checkered walnut stock. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with single dual white bead sights on the matted, vent rib which is marked “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR MONTGOMERY ROSS FISHER” and “2”, standard barrel markings, 3 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech, chokes marked “WS-2”/”WS-2”, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The blued boxlock action displays gorgeous Grand American pattern engraving consisting of near full coverage floral scroll engraving surrounding four gold inlaid game scenes. The left shows a setter in a field scene, the right has a pointer in a field scene, the underside shows a brace of pheasants in an upland scene, and a bust of a setter on the trigger guard all rendered in highly detailed gold inlay. The gun features a gold plated single selective trigger and tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid “SAFE”. Beautiful, highly figured, fancy fleur-de-lis checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings, rotary latch release, and tip inlay. The pistol grip stock is of the same exceptional quality with matching fleur-de-lis checkering and engraved and gold inlaid “GRAND/AMERICAN” grip cap, gold inscription oval marked “M/R/F”, and leather wrapped recoil pad. Montgomery Ross Fisher was a well respected Los Angeles construction contractor and trustee of the University of Southern California who passed away in 2009. There is a Montgomery Ross Fisher building named in his honor on the campus of USC. Included is a second 26 inch 12 gauge barrel set with matching serial number and engraving including the “1” on the rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, chokes marked “IMP-CYL”/”MOD”, and matching beavertail forend. Also includes a leather bound takedown case for the set marked “M.R.F.” and a canvas cover marked the same, as well as a Winchester factory letter and order sheet confirming the above configuration and a final inspection date of March 25, 1966. This gun is just six numbers off of the previous lot which is the number “1” to this set’s number “2”. Barrel measurements for the extra set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .729/.728 inches; choke constriction .000/.007 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.030 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for the primary set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .733/.732 inches; choke constriction .005/.005 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.027 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 13 oz.
