Exceptional Pre-World War II Colt First Issue Detective Special
Double Action Revolver with
   urrent configuration
      Pearl Grips, Factory Letter, and Box - Serial no.
459758, 38 special cal., 2 inch round bbl., nickel
finish, pearl grips. Manufactured in 1938 with
standard markings, checkered trigger and hammer,
and fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips with Colt
Medallions. The included factory letter confirms the c
as well as shipment to Von Lengerke & Antoine in Chicago on 23 June 1939. Includes a correct style, renumbered to match, replacement Colt maroon box with additional label marked “PEARL” as well as a retailer added label marked “V.L.&A./CHICAGO”.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% plus of the original nickel finish with
some scattered very light handling marks and spotting, and a faint
cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling
evidence. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some light edge and corner wear. Provenance: The Doug Ellison Collection.

caliber marking on the left. There is a Rampant Colt marked on the left
of the frame and “VP” on the left of the trigger guard. Fitted with pinned
blade and windage adjustable notch sights, checkered trigger and
hammer, and a pair of checkered walnut grips. Includes the original Colt maroon box with additional “TARGET.” marked label. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish and nitre blue with some light muzzle/ edge wear, some scattered light handling marks, and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Colt New Service Double Action Revolver with
Attractive Relief Carved Steer Head Pearl Grips and
Heiser Holster - Serial no. 333171, 45 LC cal., 5 1/2 inch
round bbl., blue finish, pearl grips. Manufactured in 1932 with
the standard two-line address and patent marking on top of
the barrel, model and caliber marking on the left, and Rampant
Colt on the left of the frame. Both grip straps have what appears to be factory special
order checkering. It is fitted with blade and frame notch sights, checkered trigger and
hammer, lanyard loop on the butt, and a pair of period installed non-factory pearl
grips, the right panel having a relief carved steer head. Includes a floral tooled Heiser
leather holster that is faintly retailer stamped “VL&A/CHICAGO”.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original blue finish with some very light muzzle/edge wear, some scattered light handling marks, and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips are very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and a few dark age lines on the butts. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with some mild wear.

Exceptional Antique Colt Commercial New
Army & New Navy Model Double Action
Revolver with Cartridges - Serial no. 74009, 38
Long Colt cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard rubber
grips. Manufactured in 1896 with the two-line address and
patent date marking ending with “MAR.5.95” on top of the
barrel and the caliber marking on the left. A circled Rampant
Colt is on the left of the frame, the yoke and cylinder latch have the assembly number “783”, and the serial number is on the butt. Fitted with tall blade and frame notch sights and a pair of the hard rubber grips with “COLT” over the Rampant Colt at the tops. Includes an unopened 50-count box of Remington-U.M.C.
.38 Long Colt cartridges.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% plus of the original blue finish and 98% plus of the original nitre blue with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily on the back strap and toe of the grip frame, and a light cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent with minimal handling evidence and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box of cartridges is very fine showing some mild wear and unbroken factory seal.
