Detective Special
    Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips, Box and Factory Letter - Serial no. 461284, 38 special cal., 2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, pearl
grips. Manufactured in 1940 with
standard markings, checkered
trigger and hammer, and fitted
with a pair of smooth pearl grips
with Colt Medallions. The included
factory letter confirms the current
configuration as well as shipment
to Von Lengerke & Antoine in Chicago on 6 March 1940. Includes the original Colt maroon box with
additional label marked “PEARL” as well as a retailer added label marked “V.L.&A./CHICAGO”.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% plus of the original nickel finish with some scattered light handling marks and spotting, and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some mild wear and glue repairs visible on some seams and corners.

cal., 5 inch round bbl.,

grips. Manufactured
in 1927, the included
factory letter lists this
revolver in .38 caliber, 4 inch
barrel (likely a factory error), nickel finish, checkered
wood grips, and “S.P.D. #39 on the butt of the revolver”
when it was shipped to Albert W. Tansend, Mayor, City of
Saginaw, Michigan on 29 December 1927 in a shipment of
40 guns. Apart from the butt which is marked “S.P.D. No.39”, it
has standard markings and has since been fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips with Colt medallions. Includes an ornately embroidered leather gun belt and holster
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish, much of which shows a slightly frosted appearance, and some areas of loss showing mostly a brown patina. The replacement grips are fine with some age related cracks mostly in the butts and otherwise light handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The gun belt and holster are both very fine with some mild wear. Provenance: The Doug Ellison Collection.

of Woodry could not be confirmed at this time. It is fitted with blade and frame notch sights and a pair of smooth pearl grips with Colt medallions. Includes a Heiser tooled
leather holster.

scattered light spotting/handling marks, and a few areas showing a light frosted appearance. The grips are excellent showing minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some light wear.

Rampant Colt, and fitted
with a pair of smooth pearl
grips with Colt Medallions.
Includes an “H.H.HEISER”
marked floral tooled
leather holster.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains
95% plus of the original
nickel finish on the frame and
cylinder with some scattered
very small spots of flaking, a few
scattered minor handling marks, and
a light cylinder drag line. The barrel is replated,
possibly a replacement. The replacement grips are very fine with minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some light wear.
