Documented Special Order Winchester Model 1886
Takedown .45-90 Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 88994,
45-90 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, highly figured walnut stock.
The Cody letter describes this rifle as: “Rifle, Takedown, 45/90 caliber, Barrel Shape: Octagon, Set trigger”
and “Sights: Lyman front & rear, Flat Top Sporting rear sights” and shipped on July 12, 1894. The stock and forearm are nicely figured, “extra finish” walnut with a piano finish. The barrel has a Lyman front sight with
colored bead and two-leaf folding rear sight (the rear leaf has a flat top with bright triangle and the front leaf has a wide “V” notch). A folding Lyman Peep rear sight is mounted on the upper tang. The rifle has a single set-trigger. The top barrel flat has the two-line address ahead
of the rear sight and “45-90 W.C.F.” at the breech. The letters “R W” are hand stamped just ahead of the caliber marking. The bottom of the takedown latch is stamped “-PAT. JUNE 6. 1893”. The 1894 and 1895 patent dates are stamped in two lines on the lower tang immediately behind the trigger.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel has 90% plus original blue finish with some very minor edge wear at the muzzle. The magazine tube has the usual takedown scuff marks. The edges of the forearm cap have some minor finish wear. The receiver has 50% original finish with some light scratches and handling marks.
98% blue finish is present on the bolt. The loading gate retains 90% fiery niter blue. The hammer and trigger have 85% case colors. The case colors on the crescent buttplate have silvered but remain 50%. The wood is very fine with 90%
high polish piano finish and numerous minor dings and scratches. This is a very fine example of a scarce and very desirable special order Winchester Model 1886 takedown rifle.

Excellent Winchester Model 1901 Lever Action 10 Gauge Shotgun - Serial no. 73027,
10 gauge, 32 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1908. Single bead
sight, with address, model, caliber and “FULL” marking on the left side of the barrel and factory proof on the barrel and receiver. The left side of the frame is marked with the intertwined “WRA Co” logo, with the 3-line trademark on the upper tang. Smooth round knob pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate. LOP: 13”.
CONDITION: Excellent. The shotgun retains 97% plus original blue finish showing some mild thinning with the magazine band thinning to a brown and a patch of brown on the right side of the barrel. There are some very scattered minor handling marks. The wood is also excellent with some minor dings and scratches with most of the varnish remaining. Magazine follower impedes lifter from functioning properly otherwise mechanically excellent.
