Colt Military Model 1905 Semi-
Automatic Pistol Cut For Shoulder
Stock - Serial no. 1502, 45 ACP cal., 5
inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1906, this is one of only
6,210 Colt “Military Model of 1905” pistols manufactured over a period
of six years. These pistols are a very important evolutionary step in the
development of Colt automatic pistols and the Model 1911 as they were
the first production Colt automatic chambered for the legendary .45 ACP cartridge. The
left side of the slide is marked with the two-line two-block patent dates and address,
with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked
“AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS”. The left side of the frame is marked
with the serial number and the left of the trigger guard has a “VP” proof and “1”. It has
rounded blade front and rounded top notch rear sights, and the rounded checkered
hammer. It is fitted with a pair of diamond pattern checkered grips, an unmarked full blue
magazine, and the back strap is cut with grooves for attaching a combination holster/
stock (not included). This pistol is listed on p. 221 of “The Government Models: The Development of the Colt Model of 1911” by Goddard as having been fitted for or shipped with a combination holster/stock and shipped on 14 September 1906 to Monley Sporting Goods Co.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% plus of the original high polish blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on the grip straps and edges. The grips are fair with some moderate wear and a few flat spots in the otherwise heavily worn checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Early Production Pre-World War II
Colt Super .38 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Serial Number 432 - Serial no. 432, 38 super auto cal., 5 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1929, within the first
month of full production. These Super .38 pistols were first shown to
the public at the August 1928 Camp Perry National Matches, and were
available for purchase by the start of 1929. The left side of the matching number slide is
marked with the two-line address and patent dates while the right side bears the caliber
marking along with the Rampant Colt. The serial number is on the right of the frame, the
left of the trigger guard is marked “1” over “VP”, and the right of the trigger guard is marked
“20”. The barrel is unmarked and has a polished chamber. Fitted with blade and notch rear
sights, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing,
checkered walnut grips, and a full blue .38 Super Auto magazine.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 85% plus of the dull refinished blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges and the lower front of the frame, and some scattered very light pitting under the finish. The grips are fair with some scattered minor dings and scratches, and otherwise crisp crudely recut checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Pre-World War II Colt Government
Model Semi-Automatic Pistol -
Serial no. C142335, 45 ACP cal., 5
inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1925, this is a very fine example of a pre-war
commercial Colt Government Model semi-automatic pistol. The left
side of the matching number slide has the two-line address/patent
dates and the right side has the caliber marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The left
of the trigger guard is marked “1/VP” and the right is marked “47”. The right side of the frame has the Government Model marking over the serial number. It has the “improved model” features including the short checkered trigger, wide checkered hammer, dished frame sides, and arched checkered mainspring housing with a lanyard loop. Fitted with full checkered grips and an unmarked two-tone magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with scattered scratches, minor handling marks and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Pre-World War II Colt Government
Model Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial
no. C185992, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round
bbl., blue finish, checkered walnut grips.
This is a very fine example of a pre-war
commercial Colt Government Model semi-automatic pistol. This pistol
was manufactured in 1937. It has the early commercial slide markings
that consists of the Colt two-line patent/address markings on the left
side of the slide and the right side is marked “COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .45” next to
the Rampant Colt. The matching pistol serial number is stamped around the firing pin
hole under the firing pin plate. The frame is marked on the right side “GOVERNMENT MODEL” over the “C” prefix serial number. The left and right side of the trigger guard bow
is marked with the Colt triangle “VP”, “P” and “60” proof respectively. Features include the blued Colt barrel with polished top, post 1924 checkered slide stop, checkered thumb safety, the checkered arched mainspring housing, long spur grip safety, wide Colt hammer with the checkered spur, checkered walnut grip panels and a two-tone magazine, marked “COLT/45 AUTO” on the base.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing light wear along the edges, light handling marks and minor spotting. The trigger and slide catch show bright areas from use. Grips are fine, with a few minor pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.

World War II Era Colt Government
Model Semi-Automatic Pistol -
Serial no. C200662, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1941, this is a very fine example of a World War II-era
commercial Colt Government Model pistol that is fitted with a Swartz
safety device. The left side of the slide has the two-line address/patent
dates and the right side has the caliber marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The left of
the trigger guard is marked “T/VP” and the right is marked “69”. The right side of the frame
has the Government Model marking over the serial number. The barrel is marked “COLT
45 AUTO” on the bottom left and “S” in front of the lug with a polished chamber. It has the
“improved model” features including the short checkered trigger, wide checkered hammer,
dished frame sides, and arched checkered mainspring housing with a lanyard loop. Fitted
with a “COLT/45 AUTO” marked full blue magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% of the original blue finish with the balance having mostly
thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges, some spotting on top of the slide, and the grip straps. The grips are very good with moderate checkering wear overall and a few scattered minor blemishes in the balance of the checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Pre-War Colt Vest Pocket Model 1908 Semi-Automatic
Pistol with Box - Serial no. 257421, 25 ACP cal., 2 inch round
bbl., blue finish, smooth grips. Manufactured in 1920 with
standard two-line address/patent dates and Rampant Colt on
the left of the slide, caliber marking on the right, serial number
on the left of the frame, “1/VP” and “28” marked trigger guard,
and standard features apart from the smooth grips with Colt
medallions. Includes a correct Colt maroon box numbered to a
different gun and an extra magazine.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original blue
finish and case colors with only the slightest edge wear and
handling marks. The replacement grips are very fine with
some very faint hairline age cracks around the screw holes.
Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with most of the label
absent and some light edge/corner wear.
