Beretta/Springfield BM59 Battle Rifle, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. X000097, 7.62 mm Nato cal., 22
inch round bbl., black phosphate finish, walnut stock. A descendant of the U.S. Springfield M1 Garand rifle, the BM59 is essentially the
Italian cousin to the American M14 Battle Rifle; a different design, with a higher emphasis on parts commonality with the original M1,
but intended to fill the same niche as a full power combat rifle that would give higher ammo capacity and full auto capability when
needed. A limited number of these rifles were commercially imported by Springfield Armory prior to the 1986 registry cutoff. Blade
front and adjustable peep rear sights, with a grenade launching flash hider, grenade sight (with range card insert for Energa-pattern
grenades), bayonet and bipod integrated to or mounted on the gas system. The barrel is marked “PB 1968 7.62 51478” with the receiver marked
with the Beretta address and serial number on the heel and “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” on the left side. With the exception of the “H” marked safety and
Springfield “SA” hammer, the internal components are Beretta “PB” marked. With a smooth, unmarked pistol grip stock, fitted with sling swivels, a folding shoulder rest, rubber recoil pad and a trapdoor compartment.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% of the original matte black phosphate finish, showing bright wear on the high edges, cycling wear, and light handling marks. Some rust is present, most densely concentrated on the buttplate and rear sling swivel and some lighter spotting on the trigger housing. The stock is very good, with mild dings and stains. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
Estimate: 9,500 - 16,000
