Exceptionally Fine Desirable Engraved James Reid “My Friend” Knuckle-Duster .22 Caliber Revolver - Serial no. 14069, 22 RF cal., 1 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel
finish, metal grips. Manufactured from 1868 to 1882, these revolvers were intended to served the dual-purpose of pocket pistol and set of brass knuckles. It has a top strap groove sight, with the left side marked “MY FRIEND PAT’D. DEC. 26, 1865”. Seven-shot unfluted cylinder, with matching numbers on the cylinder,
cylinder pin and frame. Frame is decorated with leafy scroll, burst and punch dot engraving, with a starburst behind the hammer and a checkered shield panel on the rear of the solid grip.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85%plus of the original nickel finish with some scattered areas thinned revealing the attractively aged brass beneath and crisp engraving. Mechanically excellent.

the dual-purpose of pocket pistol and set of brass knuckles. It has a top strap groove sight with the left side marked “MY FRIEND PAT’D. DEC. 26, 1865”, frame mounted safety, and “MY FRIEND” repeated on the lower left frame. Seven-shot

Rare Engraved James Reid New Model Knuckle Duster Revolver - Serial no. 18269, 32 RF
cal., 2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, metal grips. Manufactured in 1883 and also known as the
“Protector”, only about 360 were manufactured, falling in the serial number range of about 18,240
to 18,600. A revision of the Knuckle-Duster design, larger in the front to accommodate the barrel
and showing an enlarged finger hole. Marked “REIDS NEW MODEL .32/MY FRIEND” on the left side
of the barrel, with the serial number on the bottom of the frame and matching “69” on the rear
cylinder face, cylinder pin, cylinder pin latch and underside of the barrel. Five round fluted cylinder,
spur type hammer, and grooved cylinder pin. Scroll and punch dot engraving is present on the sides
of the frame, with a decorative border around the checkered back strap. The frame is without a loading
groove. In the catalogs of the time, this “New 5 Shot Protector” was advertised as the “Handsomest Revolver In the Market”, “Elegantly hand engraved”, and “In mechanism and finish equal to any Colt or Smith & Wesson”.
CONDITION: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth dark patina where the finish has flaked. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically functions but cylinder does not always lock up.

Scarce Engraved Iron Frame Reid .32 Caliber My Friend Knuckle Duster Revolver - Serial no. 17967, 32 RF cal., 1 5/8
inch cylinder bbl., nickel finish, iron grips. This is one of an estimated 170 iron frame models that were manufactured towards
the end of production, all in the 17,000 serial range of which this example is number 17,967. The left side of the top strap is
marked “MY FRIEND” along with the 1865 patent date. The five-shot cylinder is plain while the iron frame features a scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides and engraved accents on the front and on the top strap. A star burst type engraving is featured behind the hammer and the back of the grip area has a checkered panel. The cylinder and cylinder pin are numbered to the gun.
CONDITION: Very good. The revolver retains 25% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The
engraving is crisp. Mechanically fine.

Extremely Scarce Engraved James Reid No. 3 Derringer Spur Trigger
Revolver - Serial no. 17761, 41 RF cal., 2 3/4 inch octagon bbl., nickel finish,
metal grips. Manufactured in 1882, this is an extremely scarce example of
James Reid’s No. 3 derringer or “all metal revolver. With an estimated total of
only 75 manufactured, these revolvers are rarely seen in any condition. The
top of the barrel is marked “REID’S DERRINGER”. The grip area and rear of the
frame are both profusely factory engraved with floral scroll, borders on the top strap, and crosshatched patterns on either
side of the front of the frame. The butt of the grip is inscribed “S. Post”.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 80% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to reveal a
darker grey patina, few scattered patches of light pitting, and crisp engraving overall. Mechanically excellent.

Estimate: 4,500 - 7,000
on the rear of the solid grip.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% of the bright original blue on the cylinder and
traces of the original silver on the frame with the balance showing either a smooth grey patina or attractive
