Early Production E. Remington & Sons Type I Elliot’s Patent Over/Under Derringer with Extractor - Serial no. 1439, 41 RF cal., 3 inch solid rib bbl., bright finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured c. 1868-1869, this is one of under 2,000 early Type I over/under derringers estimated to have been manufactured, and only around 130 of this sub-variation estimated to have been produced. This sub-variation were the first over/under derringers produced by Remington that were fitted with extractors on the left side of the barrels. The serial number “1439” is on the left of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, and hand marked inside the right grip. It is fitted with smooth rosewood grips. CONDITION: Very good as period replated over some scattered light pitting and crisp markings showing mostly a smooth grey patina on the balance.
