Outstanding Colt Bisley Model Single Action Revolver - Serial no. 319658, 38 Colt cal., 7 1/2 nch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. This is a truly outstanding example of a Colt Bisley Model Single Action revolver manufactured in 1911. The revolver has the distinctive Bisley Model humpback profile grip, curved hammer with wide spur, higher frame, larger trigger guard and longer, wider trigger. The barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap have the
Colt high polish blue finish. The frame, hammer and loading gate are casehardened with vivid colors. The trigger and screws are a fiery niter blue. The black, checkered, hard rubber, two-piece, grips feature the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top. The top of the barrel is marked with the legend: “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” in one line. “(BISLEY MODEL) 38 COLT.” is roll-stamped on the left side
of the barrel. The bottom of the barrel is marked in small number, “38”. The left side of the frame is marked with the Colt ‘three-date in two-line’ patent marking followed by the encircled Rampant Colt trademark. The left front trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt “triangle/VP” proof mark and the left rear bow is stamped with a “W” assembler’s mark. The serial number is visible on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All
of the serial numbers match including the grips. The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number “42”.
CONDITION: Excellent plus. The revolver has 98% plus of the bright original high polished blue and vivid casehardened finish. Wear is limited to some very minor scratches and at the muzzle, turn marks and four minor bright spots on the rear
of cylinder, slight edge wear of the trigger guard and some minor handling marks on the back strap. The frame, hammer and loading gate retain nearly all of the vivid case colors. The trigger and screw heads have 90% of the niter blue finish. The grips have faded to a plum brown but are in excellent condition with minimal wear. All of the markings are sharp. The action functions perfectly. This an outstanding example of the very desirable Colt Bisley Single Action Revolver.
Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection.
