   LOT 3292 Remington Model 1901 Single Shot Rolling Block Target Pistol - Serial no. 3600, 22 short cal., 10 inch part octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. One of less than 750 manufactured by Remington circa 1900-1911, the Target Model of 1901 rolling block pistol marked the end of the Remington rolling block pistols. In the words of author Jerry Landskron, “It was the last and finest production model manufactured by the Remington Arms Company” (page 215 of “Remington
Rolling Block Pistols”). Both the adjustable receiver mounted rear sight and blade front sight are non-factory period replacements. The barrel has the one-line address, and the frame has the two-line address/patent dates marking and “PS” inspector stamp. The grip and barrel are numbered to the gun, and both grip straps have matching assembly numbers. CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel retains 95% original matte blue finish. The frame retains 90% plus bright original high polish blue finish with some high edge wear. The wood is fine with a couple slight chips at the top of the grip, minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.  LOT 3293 Unique Remington Navy-Frame Rolling Block .22 Target Pistol - Serial no. 1922, 22 LR cal., 8 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut grips. This is one of approximately 100 Navy-Framed Target Models of 1887 pistols manufactured by Remington circa 1887-1890. As Remington rolling block pistol expert and author Jerry Landskron pointed out, “This is a model rarely encountered by the average collector of Remington handguns. It is believed never to have been advertised in a catalog by either the Company or any of its agents” (page 127 of
“Remington Rolling Block Pistols”). German silver blade front and flat top “V” notch rear sight on a barrel marked with the one-line address. The frame is marked with the two-line address/patent dates marking (faint) on the left side and “P/FCW” inspector marks on the right side. The matching serial number is on the left
side of the back strap and front strap as well as in pencil on the forearm and grip. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains an area of original blue finish under the forearm, otherwise a mottled brown patina with some pin pick pitting. The frame and trigger retain 30% blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. 40% original blue finish remains on the breech block. Traces of the original straw remains on the hammer. The grip is very good with a series of dings on the butt, otherwise some minor handling marks. The forearm is fine with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Remington Army-Framed Rolling Block .22 Target Pistol - Serial no. 760, 22 cal., 8
inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut grips. This is one of less than 800 Army-Framed Target pistols Remington reworked from 1887 to 1891. Collectors have nicknamed the model “plinker,” referring to the small calibers the pistol was chambered in. The heavy barrel lacks an address, as usually encountered with this model. German silver blade front sight and “V” notch rear sight. The frame has the two-line address/patent dates marking. Both grip straps have a matching assembly number (“639”). The grip is numbered to the gun as well as the forearm in pencil.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as factory refurbished. The barrel retains 90% bright high polish blue finish with holster type wear. 80% vivid factory refurbished case colors remain on the frame and trigger guard. 95% plus bright high polish blue finish remains on the breech block. 98% plus straw color remains on the hammer. The trigger retains 97% of the nitre blue. The grip has a splice repair in the heel; otherwise, the wood is very fine with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. An attractive example of a Remington “plinker.”
