Magnificent Marlin Model 1895 Lever Action 45-90 Rifle - Serial no. 183026, 45-90 cal., 28 inch octagon bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1899. The barrel is stamped with the two-line Marlin address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight, “45-90” at the breech, and “SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL” on the upper left flat. The rifle is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The top of the receiver is marked “MARLIN SAFETY.” The upper tang is marked “MODEL/1895.” The receiver, hammer, lever and buttplate have gorgeous factory original case colors. The octagon barrel and full length magazine tube are blued. The forearm and straight grip stock are non-checkered, nicely figured walnut. The buttock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent. The barrel and magazine tube retain 98% plus original blue finish. 97% plus vivid fiery original case colors remain on the frame. The hammer, lever and buttplate retain 98% original case colors. 98% original niter blue remains on the loading gate.
The wood is also excellent with some minor dings and scratches and nearly all original varnish remaining. Mechanically excellent. An exceptional Marlin Model 1895 rifle worthy of the finest lever action collections.
