LOT 3436 Rare Winchester Model 1904 Deluxe Single Shot Bolt Action “Boy’s” Rifle - NSN, 22 S L LR cal., 21 inch round bbl., blue finish, checkered gumwood stock. Globe sight in the front sight dovetail, filler in the rear dovetail, and Lyman 55RWS receiver mounted rear peep sight. The rifle shows standard markings including the Winchester “WP” proof marks
on the receiver and bolt. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered stock with Schnabel tip forend section, serpentine trigger guard/grip, and blued steel crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with some light grease staining on the bolt and minor handling evidence. The wood shows a few minor handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A hard to find, high condition example! Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500 LOT 3437 Rare Winchester Thumb Trigger Bolt Action Rifle - NSN, 22 SL ExLong cal., 18 inch round bbl., blue finish, gumwood stock. This rifle was a modification of the Model 1902 without a traditional trigger. The rifle is fired by depressing the trigger with the thumb which is part of the sear and extractor located behind the bolt. Standard markings and features including “THUMB TRIGGER MODEL” and 1899 and 1905 patent dates marked on top of the barrel. Fixed sights and one piece straight grip gumwood stained stock with a black hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Winchester sold these rifles between 1904 and 1923. CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel retains 70% original blue with the balance a smooth brown patina with strong original blue in the protected areas around the rear sight and along the edge of the stock. The stock is excellent with a few minor dings and dents. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000 LOT 3438 Winchester Model 60 Bolt Action Single Shot Rifle with Scarce Factory Picture Box - NSN, 22 LR cal., 23 inch round bbl., blue finish, gumwood stock. Manufactured between 1930 and 1936. This short barreled version is equipped with dovetailed front sight and elevator adjustable rear sight, chrome plated bolt assembly, and plain one piece pistol grip stock with checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Complete with original blue and red Winchester picture box. CONDITION: Very fine, 85% original finish turning to a smooth plum patina with only a few minor scuffs from rubbing the stock. The wood is fine with minor scratches and bruising. Mechanically excellent. The box lid has torn edges and two corners that have been taped. The box has bright colors and clear markings and retains the original $5.85 factory price label. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection. Hooded, ramped blade front and eceiver mounted peep rear sights, standard markings, and Winchester “WP” proofs on the barrel and receiver. Plain pistol grip stock with sling swivels and checkered hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish, scattered minor spotting, and light handling evidence. There is a chip in at the rear sling swivel, otherwise the wood is very fine with a few light scratches and varnish flakes. Mechanically excellent. B) Winchester Model 43 Rifle in Desirable .218 Bee - Serial no. 6306, 218 bee cal., 24 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1948. Ramped, beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, standard markings, and Winchester “WP” proofs on the barrel and receiver. Plain pistol grip stock with sling swivels and checkered blue steel buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% original blue finish with a slight rub at the left of the muzzle and minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with scattered light dings and scratches. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500 LOT 3440 Collector’s Lot of Two Winchester Bolt Action Rifles -A) Winchester Model 68 Single Shot Rifle with Scarce Peep Sight - NSN, 22 S L LR cal., 27 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Hooded, ramped blade front sight, Model 68 adjustable rear peep sight, standard markings, and Winchester “WP” proofs on the bolt and receiver. Plain pistol grip stock with finger groove forend and hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% plus original blue finish with a few scattered dark spots and minor handling evidence. The stock is very good with a few light dings and scratches and high edge wear. Mechanically excellent. B) Winchester Model 57 Rifle in Rare .22 Short - Serial no. 3420, 22 short cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Introduced in 1927 and discontinued shortly thereafter due to the Great Depression. Blade front sight along with both a folding notch and receiver mounted Lyman peep rear sights, standard markings, desirable and rare “22 SHORT” marking ahead of the folding rear sight, and Winchester “WP” proofs on the barrel and receiver. Nicely figured pistol grip stock with sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate. A single shot “sled” is installed in lieu of a magazine. CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 75% plus original blue finish with areas turning an attractive brown color, scattered minor spotting, some spots of varnish wear on the stock, and light handling evidence. Collector’s Lot of Two Excellent Winchester Sporting Rifles with Peep Sights -A) Winchester Model 68 Single Shot Rifle - NSN, 22 S L LR cal., 27 inch round bbl., blue/nickel finish, walnut stock. Manufactured from 1934-1936. Hooded ramp front and adjustable peep rear sights. Nickel trigger and bolt assembly. Plain pistol grip stock with black plastic Winchester buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, 95% plus original finish remaining with scattered light scuffs and scratches, and flaking on the bolt. The stock is excellent with scattered scratches and light dings. Mechanically excellent. B) Winchester Model 68 Single Shot Rifle - NSN, 22 S L LR cal., 27 inch round bbl., blue/nickel finish, walnut stock. Same as A with addition of finger groove stock. CONDITION: Excellent, 98% plus original finish remaining showing only a few very faint nicks. The stock is very good with minor scratches and what appears as a minor repair in the grip area.
