Exceptional Marlin Deluxe Model 1897 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter
- Serial no. 226629, 22 RF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut
stock. Manufactured in 1901 with the standard two-line address and patent dates on the top
barrel flat and “MARLIN SAFETY” on top of the receiver. The model designation is on the upper tang,
and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. The full serial number, “0226629”, is repeated in the stock inlet, and the
partial serial number “629” is marked on the left of the upper tang. It is fitted with beaded blade front, elevation adjustable buckhorn
rear, and tang mount Marble peep sights. Mounted with a multi-point checkered forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered hard rubber buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, with stock checkering unlisted as is typical, and shipment on 29 May 1901.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 90% plus of the original blue finish and 95% case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges and high spots. The wood is also excellent with some scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Outstanding Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 317584, 38
WCF cal., 28 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1905 with the
standard two-line address/patent dates and the caliber designation on top of the barrel. The upper tang has the model designation, and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. It is fitted with German silver blade front and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sights and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with the later pattern “S” shaped buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original blue finish and 98% plus of the vivid original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is also excellent with a few scattered minor dings and a noticeable compression indentation on the left side of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
