 Two Fine Examples of Factory Engraved Remington Cartridge Revolvers

Factory Engraved Remington New Model Single Action Belt Model Cartridge Conversion Revolver - Serial no. 4, 38 RF cal., 6 1/2 inch octagon
bbl., nickel finish, antique ivory grips. This Remington New Model S/A Belt Revolver features a factory cartridge conversion with a two piece cylinder. The revolver is factory engraved with broad floral scrollwork on a punch dot background along with entwining line motifs on the upper barrel flats at the breech and butt, shell type pattern on the back strap shoulder, and ornate star burst pattern on top of the frame. The top barrel flat has the three-line patent dates/address/ New Model marking. Serial number “4” is marked on the grip frame and barrel. The cylinder has the conversion number “428.”
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 40% original nickel plating with the balance a smooth gray patina. The engraving is crisp. The slightly undersized grips are also fine with minimal handling marks and attractive mellow color. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved Remington New Model Pocket .32 Rimfire Spur Trigger
Revolver - Serial no. 13427, 32 RF cal., 3 1/2 inch octagon bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1865-1873. This is a third type with iron frame and iron spur trigger sheath. Matching
serial numbers are on the grip frame and barrel. It is embellished with 75% plus coverage, Nimschke style, floral scroll engraving which includes flourishes on the cylinder, and wavy lines on the barrel. The is a cross with a crossed base marked on the left of the grip frame and bottom of the barrel which may be an engravers mark. The standard two-line patent dates/address is on the top barrel flat, and it is fitted with smooth grips.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having flaked to a smooth grey patina and crisp engraving. The grips are also very fine with some scattered light handling marks and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
