|Description||This is a beautiful example of a pre-WWII, Walther custom engraved PPK, semi-automatic pistol. The pistol has been highly engraved with the traditional Germanic Oak Leaf and Acorn type engraving pattern overall with a spray of Edelweiss flowers on the left side of the slide, mixed with a geometric border. The engraving covers over 95% of the pistol. This pattern is very similar to several of the special order engraved Walthers shown in "Walther Volume II, Engraved, Presentation and Standard Walther Pistols" by Rankin. The serial number is stamped on the right side of the frame with the last three digits, "145" correctly scratched on the inside of the slide. The slide has the original Walther banner and two line slide legend "/Mod. PPK," on the left side that has been framed in a circular border with the noted engraving pattern covering the remaining surfaces of the slide, sides of the frame and front grip strap. The right side of the slide, frame and barrel all show the correct early "Crown N" proof marks, as used until approximately 1940. The slide is fitted with the standard sights and 60 degree safety. It is complete with a Walther marked magazine that has also been engraved on the underside of the base plate, along with a set of original early production mottled, brown plastic, checkered grips.
|Condition||Very fine as custom embellished with 98% of the blue finish overall with just a hint of edge wear. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering Walther markings on each side that show just a slight amount of warpage on the lower front edges, which is common to this model. A really exceptional, custom embellished, pre-war Walther PPk semi-automatic pistol.|
