OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

Manufactured in 1882, this is a second pattern rifle with the dust cover rail attached with screws. Nickel blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight (minus elevator) on barrel marked with the early two line address and patent dates. The upper breech tang is marked "Model.1876.", and the serial number is located on the lower tang. Smooth straight grip stock with iron forearm cap and crescent butt with trapdoor compartment. The barrel has been shortened and the carrier for the magazine tube moved to the rear about six inches.

Good, with brown patina. The magazine has been cleaned and is almost entirely a mottled gray, with a smoother gray patina forming on the receiver, and hints of a light brown patina on the barrel. There are also some scattered dents and scratches, and pitting on the receiver and butt. The stock is very good, with some pressure dents and scratches, along with some darkening around the edges and a few small chips. The action is fine.
