OC - FINE- all original parts; over 30% original finish, sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; minor marks in wood.

Description:

The lockplate is engraved "R.S. CLARK" among floral scrolls but there are no other marks on the gun. The rifle barrel is fired by the back action lock on the right side of the grip, the shotgun barrel by the underhammer lock which uses its mainspring as the triggerguard. The stock is artificially striped and has brass mountings. The front sight blade is on a dovetail base and the rear sight has a notched elevator. The ramrod pipes are on the left side of the barrels but the ramrod is missing. The combined features suggest a New York/Pennsylvania origin for the gun, probably 3rd quarter of the 19th Century. According to consignor notes it was supposed to have been used by one of the riders in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.

Rating Definition:

Smooth brown patina mixed with surface rust and light pitting. Minor scrapes and bruises to the wood. The underhammer needs adjustment.
