OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

Description:

Top barrel flat marked W.H.CALVERT / BELOIT. WIS. / No. 123". Calvert worked in Beloit from 1857 until his death in 1909. Light floral engraving on the lock in front of the hammer and waterfowl scene behind the hammer. Fixed iron sights, double set triggers, brass triggerguard and crescent buttplate, checkered wrist, and replacement hickory ram rod.

Rating Definition:

Fair overall. Metal surfaces have a dark patina with some light rust on the barrel, minor pitting on the hammer, bolster and breech end of the barrel. The nipple has been replaced. The striking end of the hammer is battered. The stock has been broken and repaired using filler on both sides of the forearm. There is a piece missing around the wedge causing the barrel and stock to separate and the wood is slightly warped ahead of the lock. The lock is slightly loose. The buttstock has been sanded, re-oiled, and shows some minor dings and dents and the checkering is somewhat flattened. The brass has an aged patina with signs of cleaning on the buttplate tangs. Mechanically needs work.
