Third Model manufactured in 1898 with the guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. Full magazine, Fixed silver blade dovetail front sight with adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked: "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CONN.U.S.A. - KING'S IMPROVEMENT. PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860-." in two lines ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation: "22 SHORT" is marked on the top flat just ahead of the receiver. " 22 CAL / SHORT" is marked on the bottom of the elevator. The upper tang is marked " MODEL 1873" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Smooth forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with steel crescent buttplate.

Good as refinished. Metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina showing bright edges and scattered surfaces scratches and dings. The wood is fair and exhibits pressure dents and dings with some chips and light age cracks around metal edges. Mechanically fine.
