Description:

This rifle was manufactured in late 1884. It is a third model with the dust cover integrally machined as part of the receiver. Dovetail front and standard 1876 folding leaf rear sight. The caliber is marked in two places on the rifle: "45-75 W.C.F." on top of the barrel and "45-75" on the follower. The top of the barrel in front of the rear sight is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860.". Full length tubular magazine. The model designation is marked on the upper tang, serial number on the rear of the lower tang in script. The hammer and lever are casehardened. Plain straight grip stock and forearm with a blue finished iron forend tip and crescent buttplate with brass trap.

Rating Definition:

Fair as refinished. The barrel has a mottled brown patina exhibiting surface scratches and dings throughout with heavier patches of pitting along the top barrel flat. The frame has a mottled brown patina showing edge wear as well as scratches and a few patches of pitting. The left side plate shows two small repairs. The wood is good as refurbished with some scattered scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
