Third Model manufactured in 1893 with the guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. Full magazine, Lyman blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked: "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CONN.U.S.A. - KING'S IMPROVEMENT. PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860-." in two lines ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation: "22 LONG" is marked on the top flat just ahead of the receiver. " 22 CAL / LONG" is marked on the bottom of the elevator. The upper tang is marked " MODEL 1873" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Smooth forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with steel crescent buttplate with compartment, (cleaning rod not included).

Fair. All metal surfaces have a gray and brown mottled patina with overall light to moderate pitting. The wood is good with numerous scattered minor gouges, dents and scratches associated with a gun of this age. There are four small holes in the shape of a diamond on the left side of the buttstock where possibly a medallion was once mounted. Markings are all clear. Mechanically fine.
