OC - FINE- all original parts; over 30% original finish, sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; minor marks in wood.

Description:

Manufactured in 1887, this is a Third Model with the dust cover that operates on the central guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. Dovetail front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight on barrel with half length tube magazine. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S- REPEATING - ARMS NEW HAVEN CT. / KING'S - IMPROVEMENT - PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860." Serial number on the lower tang and the model designation on the upper tang. Plain forearm with an iron forend cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as partially refinished with approximately 50% finish remaining overall. The barrel has been reblued and shows some moderate finish wear as the finish is thinning to a brownish patina. The barrel shows some heavy areas of surface rust on the both side of the barrel at the muzzle end. The receiver has toned and faded to a smooth brownish-gray patina. The hammer and lever show some traces of the original bright casehardened colors. The stock and forearm have been revarnished and show some minor nicks and scrapes.
