Finish: blue
Grip: walnut

Catalog Page: 35
Class: Antique
Rating:

OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.

Description:

Serial number 1 stamped on the frame under the barrel. Marked "So ORTEGA +" on top of the left barrel, "VITORIA+" on top of the right and "9Ms" on the left side of the frame. Sebastian Ortiz was the third and last generation of his family to be a gunsmith in northwestern Spain. The frame has an engraved border around the edges. The front sight bead, right grip and extractor star are missing. Unlike many Spanish copies of the Sharps, this one has the Sharps type flat butt grip with the saddle from the bottom to hold the grips in place. The right grip is missing. All metal is bright. The hammer doesn't hold a cock position.

Rating Definition:

Cleaned to bright with shallow dents and signs of cleaning. The remaining grip is smooth. Mechanically good.

Rating:

OC - FINE- all original parts; over 30% original finish, sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; minor marks in wood.

Description:

Only about 200 of these large frame revolvers were made with blue finish. The heart shaped floral motifs at the top of the grips indicates manufacture by Columbian before that company was purchased by Henry Kolb. Large chips on the bottom of each grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine with half the blue remaining, mostly flaked and mixed with some light surface rust. Both grips have chips at the butt. Mechanically needs work. PICTURED Baby Hammerless Revolvers, p 20.
