Description:

Founded in 1883, WKC remains in operation to this day. Measuring 9 1/2" wide and 14 1/4" tall, wood body with a decorative glass front. The face has a silver background, with the WKC trademark knight's helm on a blue hexagon in the center, backed by a pair of swords and a bayonet. Marked in the upper right hand corner in black is "BLANKE/ WAFFEN/ ALLER ART" (shining weapons of all kinds), and along the bottom "W.K.C. - WAFFENFABRIK GM BH SOLINGEN-WALD", with an illegible line below it. The day, date and month are displayed by a set of four paper reels, controlled by knobs on the sides and visible through a set of unpainted rectangular sections. On the underside of the body is a green and white label marked "GLASPLAKATEFABRIK OFFENBURG K.G/ OFFENBURG ib." (glass plate factory at Offenburg, founded 1896).

Rating Definition:

Very good. Some of the paint is flaking away, concentrated in the lower left and upper right corners, and strongest along the lower edge. The box is excellent, and though we have not detached the face for a detailed inspection, the mechanisms appear in good working order.
