Description:

1) Measuring 47 3/4", with a 37 3/4" spear point double edged single fuller blade decorated with light floral engraving above the fullers. The cup guard is bordered with a raised rope along the edge and is deeply embossed with leafy scroll designs and a number of winged and fire breathing serpents, supported by a disc braced by a pair of up reaching arms, and resting on an 11 1/2" wide guard with disc quillons, twisted shafts, and a grotesque face in the center. A similar disc capped twisted shaft forms the knuckle guard with a lightly engraved fig-profile pommel and a twisted silver grip, which bears a raised scene running up the length of an army setting forth to battle. The presence of a distinct arch at the start of the march and pyramids at the end seems to invoke Napoleon's invasion of Egypt. Fair. 2 & 3) Both main-gauche daggers are 20 1/4" overall, with 14 1/4" diamond cross-section blades, 9" cross guards, red felt backed knuckle guards, and leather and metal scabbards, with floral vine decoration. Good with some lost scabbard stitching. 4) Dagger, 15 1/4" overall, 10 1/2 inch double edged blade, cast pommel and guard with side ring, wire wrapped leather grip and leather and metal scabbard with belt hanger. Fair.
