Description:

36" OAL, with a 30" blade gold washed and etched "Carl G. Rasmus", gilt hilt with folding counter-guard, silver finished brass grip, and nickel scabbard with 1896 etching to (then Lieutenant) Rasmus from Company A, 23rd Regiment, New York National Guard. Carl Gerhard Rasmus, a resident of Cedarhurst on Long Island would continue his career with the 23rd Regiment until 1913, retiring at the brevet rank of Colonel and permanent rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Very good overall.
