Hunter with Hound bronze by P.J. Mene (Fr: 1810-1871). This classic French sculpture shows a French hunter dressed in gentlemen's hunter clothes with cap and vest leading his hound by his side in the search for game or for fox. At this time it was considered great sport to do fox hunting and this person walking would be one of the servants trying to locate the fox. The hunter and dog rests on an oval bronze plinth that is signed P.J. Mene and the total sculpture is fastened onto a circular or oval beveled marble plinth. Bronze: Length 13" x Height 17 1/2" x Width 7". Weight 30 lbs. Marble plinth: Height 1 1/2" x Length 14 3/8" x Width 8 1/2". Excellent condition.
