Description:

From 1866 until the release of the Model 1873, the Model 1866 was the premier repeater, and it remained popular even after it was discontinued at the end of the century. Thousands were sent to the West to arm cowboys, settlers, and Native Americans and were used in countless encounters. The 1866 further proved the utility of a rapid fire long gun in battle in Europe in the hands of the French and Ottomans. This Third Model was manufactured in 1872. It has the early style integral blade front sight on the magazine retaining band and a folding rear sight.
