Consignor notes state that this matchlock was recovered by a 1976 government expedition into the Royal Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, Northern India. The site of one of the most efficient cannon foundries of its age. Jaigarh Fort was also reportedly the hiding place of a massive treasure trove, which the expedition was trying to find.
