Description:

Manufacture in 1879. Model 1866 rifles were the first of the Winchester lever actions and were very popular in the American West. Many are known to have been used during the Indian Wars by Native American warriors including at the Battle of Little Bighorn. To the Americans it was the "Yellow Boy" and is considered by many to be the Winchester most deserving of the title of "The Gun the Won the West." Over 170,000 were manufactured before the end of the century and an untold number were carried westward by American settlers hoping to start new lives in the West.
