Description:

The lot includes 9 Civil War era daguerreotypes mostly depicting Union military soldiers. Most of the portraits are held in folding cases of either wood, leather, or gutta percha with decorated stamped copper matting, ranging from poor to very fine. Three framed and one loose photograph are included depicting U.S. soldiers from the Indian War and Spanish American War eras. Consignor notes that included in the images are what appear to be an unarmed Confederate and a youth drummer boy. The shoulder straps are dark blue with three stars, indicating a lieutenant general. No information is included with the straps. Fair with an overall dark color, and some loose strands of the gold metal threading at the edges. The included sword plate is silver with patriotic themed engraving and "NVY" on the front. Plate is fine with a darkened aged patina.
