This beautiful bronze bust of Abraham Lincoln was made by John Rogers (American; 1829-1904). John Rogers is mostly known for his mass production of plaster images of early American life as well as the Civil War. Rogers did only three bronze castings in his life: "Picket's Charge", "One More Shot", and this one of President Lincoln. This bronze bust of Lincoln shows the President wearing a suit coat with a vest and tie. A remorseful and worried look is on his face as he faces the challenges of the Civil War as well as his domestic policies. The bronze is signed "JOHN ROGERS/NEW YORK" on the back. It is mounted on a round marble plinth with beveled top edges the is 1 1/4" tall. The bronze dimensions are 7" high x 4 1/2" wide 3 1/4" deep. Weight: 5 1/2 lbs. Very fine condition.
