Description:

Wells Fargo company commissioned this plaque for the 50th anniversary of the Pony Express in 1910. The plaque depicts a cowboy rider on a fast galloping horse going to the next relay station. The plaque is signed lower center by Proctor (Am: 1862-1950) under the Pony Express logo. The plaque measures 16" diameter and is featured in the Bergmann book on bronzes, Vol. 4, pages 1184-1185, number 4759. Great depiction of an era of communications that lasted only 19 months. Approximate weight is 15.5 lbs.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a mostly dark aged bronze patina and light handling marks.
