OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.

Description:

Only 1,008 Springfield trapdoor rifles are believed to have been equipped with the experimental cartridge block holder designed by Lt. Henry Metcalfe on the right side ahead of the lock. Two wooden cartridge blocks are included. One has a leather strap.
