Description:

Manufactured in 1860. Inscribed "F.W. Parson" on the back strap and "Niagara Falls, N.Y." on the butt for Francis W. Parsons (1842-1873) of the Wisconsin 1st Volunteer Regiment and 91st New York Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was wounded at least three times. His final permanent rank was as major, and he was also breveted as a lieutenant colonel. He also served in the Secret Service and was appointed postmaster at Niagara Falls by President Lincoln.
