Manufactured about 1913 by DWM, this is one of less than 200 Model 1908 Luger pistols slated for delivery to Bolivia. Between the rigors of military use and the extreme nature of Bolivia's climate (varying from humid tropical to polar desert), few survive in any condition; Costanzo's "World of Lugers" (pg.195) states "To date only 6 are known". Properly without a hold-open device, with the Bolivian crest on the chamber, "EJERCITO DeBOLIVIA" on the right side rail, "SEGURO" and "CARGADO" marked safety and extractor, and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked hardwood base.
