Description:

1) Etched sword, 39 1/2" OAL, 34" blade with "ARTHUR W. MAY" on the right and "M.V.M." on the left, gilt brass guard, wire wrapped sharkskin grip, nickel sheath. Not documented, but research shows a First Lieutenant Arthur W. May of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts as a veterinary surgeon with the First Battalion Cavalry of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia circa 1901. 2) Meyers U.S. Navy sword, 34 1/2" OAL, 29" etched blade, gilt brass hilt, wire wrapped rayskin grip, and a leather covered scabbard with dual gilt chain hangers and a fine black leather sword belt. Both swords are very good, with mild wear and handling marks.
