Dated "1916," with a combination of Imperial and Nazi stampings, particularly a set of "(sig runes)2/(totenkopf)" stamps on the barrel, and fitted with a muzzle protector and a sling. Death's head marked 98s are associated with both the WWI trench raiding "Shock Troops" and the early armed formations of the Nazi Schutzstaffel.
