OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.

PRF - PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED OR RESTORED

Description:

Marked with a "W.I" hallmark on top at the breech. Raised relief floral designs and includes a boar on the left behind the cheekpiece. The forend cap is horn. It was likely manufactured in one of the Germanic states or Austria in the early to mid 18th century. Similar fowling pieces by Peter Wittemann of Giessen, Hessen, are known.
