Very close in configuration to the Model 70 Featherweight Ultra-Grade Rifle, but with a Sporter Varmint barrel in 223 Remington instead of 270 Remington, and not "1 of 1000" marked. As there is a "UG1" recorded in the Featherweight Ultra Grade 270 production, this would suggest that this was chiefly a conceptual model, not intended for public consumption, possibly in anticipation of building a line-up of Ultra Grade configurations. Some barrel markings are gold inlaid, as are the Winchester mark and serial number on the receiver, along with fine gold border work. Bolt, stock and other components absent. With Certificate of Provenance stating it was previously a part of the Winchester Factory Collection where it was maintained by U.S. Repeating Arms.
