Description:

This pair of large bronzes is called hunting and fishing. This pair is seldom seen together as the bronzes were sold separately. These colorful bronzes are modeled after the antique model done by Duchoiselle (French 19th century). The Indian maiden was called Pocahontas by Duchoiselle (Bergman bronzes vol.2 p 292,#1049). Pocahontas has a full Indian headdress, sits upright in the canoe with her legs out stretched flanked by fish she just caught. The Indian chief is in his separate canoe sitting down with his legs outstretched and a bow in his lap having a partial headdress in a canoe that has game in it that he just captured. This pair are signed "CM Russell" on the side of each Canoe and the bronze rests on a custom oval marble plinth. Dimensions: Indian chief- Ht: 18"; L: 26"; W: 14" weight: 60 pounds. Indian maiden : Ht: 17"; L 25"; W:12" weight: 50 pounds and also is in very good condition. Both are very good.
