This 1796-1875 French animalier sculptor depicts a ferocious lion in mortal combat with a large snake. The lion's mouth is open with his paw on the snake's belly that rests on the ground. The snake with an up lifted head is ready to strike the lion. Highly detailed large bronze with dimensions: W: 8", Ht: 14", L: 16", weight is 60lbs. The bronze rests on a custom oval beveled marble 2" plinth and is signed A. Barye on the front of the bronze base. Very good.
