Description:

Both blades are installed in shirasaya mounts. 1) Wakizashi length blade, 25 1/2" long with a 19 5/8" cutting edge, wavy hamon, silver foil covered 2-piece habaki, and a shortened, square-cut tang with a two-symbol signature on the left side. Consignor notes translate the signature as "Kanenaga", which they believe to have been a smith in Yamato province circa 1334-1521. 2) Tanto length blade, 10 1/4" long with a 7" cutting edge, wavy hamon, one-sided dual fullers and an unsigned tang with one mekugi-ana. Consignor notes attribute the blade as Shinto period (c.1600-1787). Both blades are good, with rough furniture.
