Manufactured in 1881 and later engraved with near full coverage floral scrollwork on the receiver. Masonic symbols engraved on the dust cover. Dovetail blade and elevation adjustable sights, second model receiver, highly figured and checkered forearm and buttstock, and trapdoor buttplate (cleaning rod not included). Blued barrel and magazine tube, and the remaining surfaces silver plated. British proofs. Left side of lower tang marked "550 XX." "80770" marked on stock inlet, and "550" is repeated on the buttplate.
