Custom engraved Walther Model 9 pistol engraved "Dr. Otto Hellmuth." He was born July, 1896, was a WWI service volunteer, fought with Infantre-Regiment 4, was wounded four times, survived WWI, and joined the Nazi Party in 1922. He was appointed as the Gauleiter of Lower Franconia circa 1933/34. Tried in 1947 as a War Criminal, sentenced to death, later commuted to life in prison, pardoned in 1955. The one-line Walther's model and address markings have been framed with an early Walther pattern, fine scroll engraving along with the top of the barrel combined with a fine gold line border on both sides. The inscription "Dr. Otto Hellmuth" has been heavily/deeply relief engraved in an old Germanic style lettering on the right rear end of the slide. Grips fitted with original blue enameled grip inserts marked "CW" (for Carl Walther) and "6.35" one on each side respectively. Has a small inlaid, intertwined silver "SA" emblem on the lower left grip. Original Walther magazine with engraved base plate with a gold line border. With a brown russet leather presentation case with blue felt interior and a small uninscribed silver disc in the corner. The lid displays a large inset gold Reichsadler.
