Standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, along with the desirable "50 EX" caliber designation on the barrel between the rear sight and receiver. Square based blade front, two-leaf notch rear, and tang mounted peep sights, with the saddle ring mounted on the left of the receiver. The included factory letter lists a carbine in .50 Express, received at the warehouse on 9 January 1906, shipped the next day, returned and repaired on 18 January 1906 "and changed to a carbine, 50 express", and reshipped on 2 February 1910.
