This big bore duck gun is an early example of work from the world famous maker Westley Richards and dates to circa 1843. With browned damascus barrel signed by the maker and with casehardened patent breech finely engraved with a game bird in flight on the top flat. Border and scroll engraved standing breech with sighting groove, and signed game scene engraved lock. Walnut half stock with checkered grip. Border and scroll engraved iron mounts. In hardwood case with printed Westley Richards trade label to the inside of the lid, with some accessories including white metal mounted leather wrapped powder flask with large capacity nozzle and brass mounted ebony cleaning rod.
