Description:

Manufactured in circa 1886, this is a rare example of a big bore duck gun from the great so-called British “northern school” gunmaker Thomas Horsley & Son of York. With round browned damascus barrel with raised octagonal breech section signed “T. HORSLEY & SON, MAKERS, YORK”. Substantial action with carved percussion fence and backaction lock. Border engraved throughout. Figured pistolgrip stock with checkered grip and forearm, the butt with filled hole for a pulley to attach the gun to a punt or bank gun frame. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
